Exam Writing Sample

DUE: SEPTEMBER 30th

Choir Assignment – Writing Exam #1

In order to help develop our writing skills, we will write throughout the year. While using proper grammar, spelling and format, use the following prompt to construct a paragraph. Remember that a paragraph consists of at least 5 sentences (topic sentence, 3 or 4 supporting sentences, and a summary sentence).

PROMPT: Composers often use songs and themes to both introduce and define characters. (For example: Jaws theme, Disney tunes, or even James Bond). What song would serve as a good introduction to you? And Why?

Remember to use musically descriptive terms that tie the music to your personality. You might consider the text, melodic construction, tempo, rhythm or theme. Include reasons we would recognize you from the song you select. It might be a fun extension to see if the class can identify you from your music and description so be specific…

Complete the writing using the provided space below.
