Assignment #2

This week's choir assignment does not involve any written work.

We will hear you sing one verse of "America"
which is more commonly known as
"My Country Tis Of Thee."

Your performance will be unaccompanied and must be from memory.

We will record or video your singing.
We will post the recording in your "Grade" file.

This test is
Thursday and Friday,
September 22-23, 2011.

'My Country 'Tis of Thee'

Music based on "God Save the Queen", the British National Anthem.

Words by Samuel Francis Smith.

My country tis of thee,
Sweet land of liberty,
Of thee I sing.
Land where my fathers died!
Land of the Pilgrim's pride!
From every mountain side,
Let freedom ring!

Let music swell the breeze,
And ring from all the trees
Sweet freedom's song.
Let mortal tongues awake;
Let all that breathe partake;
Let rocks their silence break,
The sound prolong.
